Wednesday, October 4, 2023

Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations with arts programming serving communities can now begin the eligibility verification process for Oklahoma Arts Sector ARPA Grants. Grants are made possible by the state's $10 million investment of federal pandemic relief funding for the arts and cultural sector. Eligibility verification will run through October 31.

OKLAHOMA CITY (October 4, 2023) – Oklahoma 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that offer arts programming serving their communities and were impacted by the pandemic can now submit required documents for eligibility verification for Oklahoma Arts Sector ARPA Grants. Eligibility verification is open through October 31, 2023, at 5:00 p.m.

Made possible by a $10 million investment of state American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to rebuild the arts sector, which was disproportionately impacted by the pandemic, the grant program is designed to restore and improve organizational resiliency, assist in arts and culture job recovery and workforce development, and transform the sector’s infrastructure to continue serving Oklahomans statewide for generations to come.

Examples of organizations that may be eligible for funding include local arts councils, museums, social or community service programs, performing arts presenters, community theaters, history or heritage centers, festivals, and other 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations with arts programming that serves communities. Organizations must have been impacted by the pandemic and in existence as of February 15, 2020, with a minimum operating budget of $10,000.

All organizations interested in applying for the grant must first create a user account in the grant portal. Once they receive login information, they will be able to log in and submit documents for eligibility verification. Required documents include the organization’s 501(c)(3) determination letter from the IRS, 990 form, Oklahoma certificate of incorporation with articles of incorporation, and board-approved bylaws.

Deadline to submit all documents for eligibility verification is October 31, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. CDT.

Once verified, organizations will be able to apply for funding beginning in November. Examples of allowable uses for the funding include recovery of financial loss from the pandemic, capital upgrades, salaries for arts-related personnel, fees for artists and other contract personnel supporting artistic services, operational expenses, organizational development and training, marketing, expanded arts programming, and more.

Full grant guidelines and details about eligibility criteria are available at arts.ok.gov. For more information, contact Martyna Sandoval at (405) 239-0257 or martyna.sandoval@arts.ok.gov.
